Mobile device usage is increasing, yet QR usage is decreasing. So why is the QR code failing? In a survey of 300 technically astute San Franciscans, when shown a QR code:
7% guessed some variant of “those things you stare at that get 3D when you cross your eyes”
53% tried everything from a secret military code, Korean (uh really?), to an aerial street map of San Francisco
Today, not a single mobile device ships with a QR reader by default. Not iOS, not Android, not even BlackBerry. Then why do some marketers continue to burden potential customers with yet another app download, just to be redirected to a website / video / content?
